Waco Family Medicine celebrates the enduring legacy of Dr. George H. Jurek, a retired Waco dentist whose life was dedicated to compassion, service, and philanthropy. Growing up in Axtell with humble beginnings, Dr. Jurek developed a deep understanding of the challenges of affording medical care. His early experiences, including negotiating with a dentist for care at just 9 years old, planted the seeds of generosity that would flourish throughout his life.

After serving in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, Dr. Jurek built a successful dental practice in Waco, where he regularly provided care to those in need, often offering discounted services to teachers, ministers, and others facing financial hardship. His passion for helping vulnerable populations led him to create educational programs that have become a cornerstone of primary care for patients with mental and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Jurek’s $1 million gift to Waco Family Medicine, made possible with the support of the Waco Foundation, will establish the George H. Jurek Dental Clinic in our new flagship facility. This transformative contribution will ensure that future generations have access to the compassionate care he championed throughout his life.
